After all these years, you’re still a dear and there’s no other way I would have it. The last we met was literally at the turn of the century when Y2K was causing furore. Whether or not, it claimed any damage that it was purported to, but our love story was a definite casualty… don’t know why I still connect the two…. oh, am I rambling again? It annoyed you when I rambled …
Today, as I remember those dreamy, soaked-in-romance Valentine’s days, I spent with you, you should know that no one has ever been able to make me feel the way you did. You’d be rolling your eyes now, thinking why did I leave you then. I don’t know if you recall but your possessiveness overshadowed our love….
Will it give you some solace if I were to tell you that even though I was the one to call it off, I went through as much agony as you must have from a broken heart? I missed your laugh, the sound of your sleepy voice when I’d call you at five in the morning to save on the STD charges……I missed US.
I wished it had ended in a happily-ever-after for us but I am glad that at least I was touched by a love so intense. This line, I read once, sums up perfectly, how I feel about you
I love you, with a touch of tragedy and quite madly. But I miss you to the point of anguish….
Love and more
……. She folded the letter neatly, pushing it in a Hallmark envelope she hadn’t used in a long time and slid it under her pillow as she switched off the light before giving a long loving look to her sleeping husband
